About Us

Literacy Knowledge and Dreams (LKD) is a nonprofit organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and literary purposes. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and dream—no matter where they come from.

Our Mission

At LKD, our mission is to promote children’s literacy, foster knowledge, and inspire dreams in underserved communities throughout the United States and around the world. We achieve this through the establishment of libraries, engaging educational programs, and impactful community outreach initiatives.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every child has access to books, knowledge, and encouragement to dream big. By building a community of conscious positivity, we aim to open young minds to the possibilities of a better future—empowering them to create the lifestyle they desire. As our founder, Jerome Yates, says: “A mind is a terrible thing unused!”

Our Work

From donating books and building libraries to hosting reading programs and mentorship opportunities, LKD works to break the cycle of limited access to education. We believe literacy is not just about reading—it’s the foundation for a lifetime of learning, creativity, and achievement.

Our Leadership

Together, our board and volunteers are committed to making a lasting difference, one child and one community at a time.
